If your roof sustains any damage due to high wind, hail, lightning or any other act of God, your homeowner’s insurance policy should cover it.
But before CP Roofing & Exteriors begins the construction of your new roof, your insurance company must confirm the damage and approve the claim.
To ensure you can handle the insurance claim process from start to finish, CP Roofing & Exteriors recommends you follow these five steps:
Step 1: Evaluate the storm damage. Note the date of the storm, signs of damage you can see from the ground, and take pictures of any damage.
Step 2: Contact CP Roofing & Exteriors to perform a free inspection, and obtain a written proposal.
Step 3: Contact the claims department of your insurance company. Be prepared to provide the pictures and the estimate from your contractor.
Step 4: Request an insurance adjuster inspection. Insist that your contractor is present during the adjuster inspection. Your contractor’s job is to make sure the adjuster plays fair and provides you with a fair assessment.
(Remember, the insurance adjuster works for the insurance company and may have an incentive to deny your claim if they think they can.)
Step 5: Once your claim is approved your insurance company will give you the funds to repair the damage.
It is the responsibility of the insurance company to pay the entire cost, less your deductible, for replacing the roof or other parts of your house if damages are found.
